Robertson Rumble 2 Way Scramble Competition

The Western Province Sport Parachute Club (WPSPC) will be hosting a 2-way scramble competition in formation skydiving (FS) over the weekend of 27-28 February 2010.

Registration Evening

Individual registrations will be accepted on a registration evening - from 19:30 on the evening of Thursday, 25th February 2010, at the Milnerton Surf & Lifesaving Clubhouse, or by pre-arrangement (email bookings@skydive.co.za, or call 082 886 9909). The registration fee per individual entrant is R50.

Draw

At the registration evening, once all individual registrations have been received, the competition's judging panel will take the time to arrange all entrants into groups defined by FS experience and weight. From these groups, a "lucky draw" will take place, in which pairs of entrants with similar weight and balanced experience will be chosen. Should the entrants and/or the judging panel deem a drawn team to be unfairly paired (e.g. their weights are heavily disproportionate, or their combined experience is either very weak or very strong), then the teams may be swopped and/or rearranged, at the judging panel’s discretion. Each drawn team will submit a team name once they have been paired.

Competition Format

The competition will be held over three rounds, as per the February draws for the South African Skydiving League (SASL). Each team will have an allowance for a single bust round. This implies that a team's best two rounds will count towards its final score. The bust round allows for a single round of bad camerawork and/or any other type of interference that might reflect negatively on a team's score. Should all three rounds be filmed correctly, then the team will score the best two rounds of those three. The judging panel will be the final word on a team's score. In the event of bad weather interrupting the competition, the results may be called after all teams have completed at least one round.

Cameramen
The WPSPC has collected a pool of 3 or 4 cameramen for the event. Load organisers on competition days will decide which cameraman will film which team. After each round, the cameramen will be responsible for giving the judging panel the footage of that round.

Load Costs
Each team will cover the cost of their cameraman. Therefore, each registered entrant will pay the cost of one and a half slots per competition jump. Teams will only be charged for jumps actually made.

Prizes
Prizes will consist of beer, and a number of other skydiving-related services/materials, to be announced closer to the competition date. The Robertson Rumble Floating Trophy will be awarded to the winning team, until the next Rumble takes place.

We look forward to seeing as many Formation Skydivers and friends in Robertson in Feb.
