Static Line Progression

Static Line Progression

The Static Line Progression course is designed to advance the new skydiver one skill at a time, at his or her own pace - although one is required to skydive often enough to remain current. The more often you jump, the faster the learning curve. Each level requires between ten and thirty minutes of ground preparation, depending on the complexity of the next task. The sequence takes the newcomer through a few Static Line jumps (minimum of three) to DRP jumps (i.e. Static Line Jumps in which the student "pulls" a dummy ripcord to demonstrate awareness and ability to the jumpmaster). The student will complete a minimum of five DRP jumps, before what many believe to be the most exciting jump - the First Freefall of three seconds.

With that landmark crossed, subsequent jumps go to progressively higher altitudes with longer freefall delays and more tasks. Five second, ten second (two jumps), fifteen seconds, fifteen second with altimeter, twenty seconds, twenty seconds dive exit, 180 degree turns, 360 degree turns, back loops, full series, delta, delta & turn, delta & track and finally the spin test. All and all it will take a minimum of twenty-four jumps to complete the Static Line Progression Course.
